• Tequila Introduction

    • A lot of you reading this have undoubtedly experienced a rough night while drinking tequila and an even rougher morning after. These traumatic experiences may or may not have landed you in jail or ruined a romantic relationship most likely spawned from their choice of bad tequila in the first place. Don’t worry if you are that person, the team at Bonnybank Inn are here to help!

Just as with scotch, cognac of fine wines, tequila is all about texture, aroma, subtlety, flavour, status and above all, culture. It’s also about enabling you to have a fun filled day or night.

Let us introduce you to one of the most misunderstood liquors in the world.

    • Blanco

    • A true reflection of the agave Blanco or Plato, meaning “white” or “silver” is bottled within two months of distillation. Sip or shoot…. Either way you’ll enjoy it.

    • Reposado

    • Reposado Tequilas – literally, “rested” – spend at least two months in oak, but less than a year giving the spirit a golden hue. Smoother than blanco with flavours such as vanilla and coconut.

    • Anejo

    • Put simply, “aged” – in this case for at least a year inn oak, but for less than three, darkening the tequila to a rich amber coulor. Full-bodied and complex with expressions of cooked agave, wild honey and oak-infused butterscotch and vanilla

    • Mezcal

    • The oldest distilled spirit in the Americas. Mezcal has been distilled for at the very least hundreds of years longer than Tequila.

Unlike tequila which is the only one type of Mezcal, And is produced from only bleu weber agave, Mezcal is produced with upwards of thirty varieties  of agave throughout the thirty two states of Mexico. It is not just the agave that distinguish the flavour of mezcal from tequila amongst many other factors the cooking of the agave hearts which distinguish Mezcal from any other spirit on earth. The agaves are buried under ground over hot rocks for days at a time resulting in the smokey, Complex and earthy flavour we are here to help you come to love.
